Black Canadian Film is a website dedicated to celebrating amplifying Black cinema and filmmakers from Canada. This includes the films and filmmakers who have brought Black stories to life, as well as the industry professionals, festivals, and programs creating spaces for Black Canadian artists.
Inspired by a conversation I had with Canadian filmmaker and producer Selwyn Jacob and the wonderful Black Film Archive, created by the brilliant Maya Cade, this site is meant to be a resource. A space for discovery, learning, and honouring the diverse voices who have brought, and continue to bring, richness to the Canadian and global cinematic landscape.
Black Canadian Film is a living record that will be updated regularly to reflect the evolving nature of cinema.
