Set in 1919, this Romeo and Juliet inspired tale looks at the immigrant struggle in Canada. After feeling Russia’s war on the Ukraine, Stefan and his father land in Winnipeg, Canada where he meets and falls for his Jewish suffragette neighbor Rebecca. However, in post-war Canada, their love must endure a volatile labour market where jobs are few and locals are taking out their frustration and violent rage on immigrants and those from minority communities.
