Valerie Amponsah is a filmmaker who was one the filmmakers that took part in the Being Black in Toronto short film series that showcased the realities of the Black experience in Toronto. Being Black in Toronto won a 2021 Canadian Screen Award for Best Direction in a Documentary Series. When not making films, Amponsah is a program coordinator for the OYA Black Arts Coalition.
